Dr Darian Goldin Stahl hosts Embodied Books workshop for UT Faculty of Medicine Health Humanities Strategic Retreat

Darian conducted a three-hour artist’s book workshop for a group of thirty medical and medical humanities personnel as part of the inaugural UT Faculty of Medicine Health Humanities Strategic Retreat on October 25, 2024. This workshop presented the historical intersections between books and bodies, as well as the patient-made artists’ books created as a part of Darian’s postdoctoral Embodied Books project. The workshop then called on the retreat participants to create their own artists’ books responding to a sensation, symptom, or phenomenon occurring in their own bodies. Sharing these handmade books with one another, their stories beckon us to reconnect with the sensing body and handle these narratives with care.
