HARC Research Manager Interviewed on ATPN News

HARC Research Manager Marion Erickson, a Dakelh researcher and graduate student at Thompson Rivers University studying Dakelh midwifery, recently spoke about barriers faced by Indigenous women accessing health services. In the interview, Erickson tackled the colonial violence of forced and coerced sterilization in Canada, a part of the country’s active suppression of Indigenous people. Erickson, who is working on revitalizing doula knowledges, midwifery practices, and Indigenous knowledges around birth and women’s health, is active in addressing racism imbedded in current Euro-colonial healthcare systems, including leading Indigenous language classes for healthcare professionals in Northern BC.
