☀ This Year’s Hybrid Delivery ☀

Although we are unable to host an in-person camp in Prince George in 2021 due to the unique challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, our team has worked hard to bring our fully-funded Summer Science Camp directly to you through a community-based virtual hybrid delivery approach!

☀ What Will the Camp Involve? ☀

Our team at the Health Arts Research Centre has designed a virtual science curriculum that will be delivered via Zoom between August 9-12th. Youth will have the opportunity to learn about anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, nutritional sciences, medicine, as well as learn about different healthcare careers. In addition, each community will run self-determined cultural and recreational activities each day. Some of these activities might include canoeing, rock-climbing, cedar weaving, smoking fish, making salves, and much more!

August 9th, 10th, and 11th will be full days of building cultural connections, going on fun recreational adventures, and participating in science-themed workshops led by Indigenous scientists and healthcare workers from across northern BC! On August 12th, youth with connect with other 2021 Northern Indigenous Summer Science Camp youth for a closing dinner and panel presentation by Indigenous healthcare professionals and post-secondary admission support professionals.

☀ By inspiring Indigenous youth to pursue post-secondary education and healthcare careers, youth are not only leading change in their home communities, but are also transforming the healthcare system to be culturally safe and responsive to the needs of Indigenous peoples.☀
